Self-Healing: 22 Things to Have in Your Household for Optimal Health & Wellbeing

A Hard-Won Lesson We All Eventually Learn!

(scroll down to watch the video)

Recovery from anything and keeping ourselves well command embarking on a journey of Self-Healing.

This was another of many hard-won lessons amidst my journey to heal from long-standing, invisible illness and the fallout of Complex PTSD.

Here’s what I learned!

No doctor, practitioner, coach, guru, or whoever else can “fix,” “heal,” or take responsibility for keeping us well and aging gracefully.

They can bring their expertise to the table, present options, educate, facilitate, hold space, and provide guidance in creating and organizing personalized healing protocols, but…

Everyone must do the daily work.

This is the part that SO many struggle to understand, accept, embrace, and embody.

And it keeps them stuck in a perpetual cycle of hopping from one protocol/practitioner to the next, hoping that something or somebody will be or provide THE ULTIMATE solution to what ails them.

I searched the world high and low for this for YEARS and never found it.

Why? Because it doesn’t exist.

My continued dead-ends finally led me to realize that I had to take 100% responsibility and become my best self-healer.

Doing this led me on a journey into the realms of psychoneuroimmunology, complex trauma, subconscious programming, neuroplasticity, the power of daily habit, radical self-care, breath work, fundamental pillars of health, advanced gut, brain, and nervous system health, the interplay between psychology and physiology, self-sabotage, and more.

In doing this, I arrived at a deep understanding of what people tend to think will heal them and keep them well versus what’s truly needed, which are as follows:

What People Think They Will Heal Them & Keep Them Well – Biochemical; Short-Term

  • Lab testing

  • Supplements

  • Exact, Prescriptive Diets

  • Intensive Detox Regimes

  • IV Protocols

  • Etc.

Don't get me wrong, labs, supplements, and other biochemical supports are undoubtedly valuable healing tools. I use them -- albeit conservatively.

However, they don't address neurobiological trauma survival programs that continually hijack the nervous system, keeping the body stuck in a stress, energy depletion, pain, and chronic illness cycle.

And so...

What’s Truly Needed to Heal & Stay Well; Beyond the Biochemical; Lifelong

  • Mindset for Healing and Success

  • Optimizing Nutritional Status

  • Restorative Movement

  • Optimizing Breathing Patterns

  • Radical Self-Care

  • Healthy Boundaries

  • Resetting the Circadian Clock & Optimizing Sleep

  • Living a Lifestyle That Supports Continual Detoxification

  • Healing and Sealing the Gut

  • Dealing with Toxic Relationships

  • Dealing with Toxic Environments

  • Emotional Regulation

  • Hormesis

  • Shifting Patterns That no Longer Serve us

  • Self-Compassion (LOADS of it!)

  • Rewiring the Nervous System for Wellness

  • Harnessing the Power of Habit

  • Pursuing our Passions and Purpose

And in arriving at this understanding and in the spirit of supporting the self-healing journey and taking 100% full responsibility for our wellness, I’ve realized the need to equip our households with what I believe to be essential tools.

My journey showed me how desperately we need a NEW, MORE DYNAMIC SYSTEM for trauma-informed healing that focuses on the mind-body-spirit combination. One that supports and empowers each person to become their own best self-healers.

One I never found, and so…
